Logisolve’s e-Prescription practice is led by Robert Mohr. Rob has lead several Enterprise e-Prescription implementation projects in several different environments, including acute/ambulatory care, retail clinic, and long term care. He has been awarded the National Council of Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP) Most Valuable Participant (MVP) award multiple times. The purpose of the MVP award is to recognize individual members of the Council who have contributed an extraordinary amount of leadership, time and effort to a work group or committee project that results in the accomplishment its goals.
Logisolve has also been an industry leader in implementing electronic standards used by the health care industry. By getting involved with standards such as HL7, NCPDP Script, and x12, Logisolve is positioned to better assist our clients when entering the electronic transmission arena.
Our e-Prescription Experience
One example of many current and past e-Prescription projects includes implementing the ePrescription process for a fortune 500 healthcare company. Our services included planning and strategy, as well as development and technical integration work. Logisolve was responsible for creating, leading and delivering a solution and process for electronically enabling a clinical software application.
As is the case with all of our e-Prescription implementations, our client’s clinical software can now provide the physician up-to-date and patient-specific formulary information and medication claims history direct from the patient’s Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) on a real-time basis. The application can also exchange electronic prescriptions and refill requests with both mail order and retail pharmacies.
These enhancements improve patient safety by giving a more complete view of the patients medication history, promotes formulary compliance by providing the information early in the prescribing process, and improves timeliness and accuracy of scripts that are exchanged electronically rather than hand written. Time spent on the phone by physicians and payers is reduced greatly by giving the physician more information early in the process.

meridianEMR created an integration to the Logisolve e-Prescription Gateway Module (ePGM) in order to implement SureScript’s Formulary Benefit & History requirements to be fully compliant with CCHIT 2011 meaningful use requirements for EHR vendors. The ePGM server cut in half our development time and allowed us to concentrate on user workflow and medication data in our application. The ePGM server is like an appliance that is capable of performing all of the formulary, history, and SureScripts reporting requirements by generating and interpreting proprietary XML, flat file formats, and X12 270-271 messages into a consistent well defined XML format to our application. In short, the ePGM server provides the functionality and automation necessary to fully implement SureScript’s Formulary and History requirements that would had taken our IT team months to implement.

Data Load Services:
- Formulary Load: Handles the download of the formulary raw data from Surescripts into module defined formulary data schema. Handles the “roll-up” of data for display purposes based on the vendors chosen drug database. The current module contains support for the First Database Drug database product.
- Pharmacy Directory: Handles the download and display of pharmacy data for the purposes of pharmacy selection.
Display Services:
- Formulary Display Service: A service that will determine the correct formulary information to be displayed for a given patient and medication.
- Pharmacy Search: Service that allows the requesting application to search and display the desired pharmacy.

Clinical Messaging Services

Many of those solutions have been around pharmacy/benefit related verticals.
Clinical Messaging has gained steam as of late due to the success of electronic prescribing. Now that physicians are comfortable with the exchange of script information, they are asking for additional functionality to further remove the need to handle paper. Clinical Messaging is the industries answer to that request. Logisolve has had the opportunity to be involved with the design and implementation of the capability for a physician, payer, and/or pharmacy to securely communicate with each other.
Our Clinical Messaging Experience
One example of our experience in clinical messaging is the implementation of the ability for a Nurse Practitioner to communicate with a patient’s primary care physician. Previously, a patient could be receiving treatment from a Nurse Practitioner without the PCP being aware of the treatment. The implementation of a messaging solution allows the NP’s system to systematically send a patient visit summary in the form of a Continuity of Care (CCR) document directly to the physicians EMR. The physician can then choose to accept the discrete data directly into their EMR or save it as external information.
Another example is the implementation of a electronic prior authorization solution. Utilizing proposed standards, Logisolve assisted with a system that allows a physician to request and respond to a prior authorization request prior to it being sent to the payer for processing. The solution saves times for all parties by being proactive to the request rather than reactive after a medication is denied due to the need for a PA.
There are many business drivers for this type of message exchange that have not yet been design and developed. Logisolve offers experience in this space to assist all parties with implementing this capability in a secure, standardized, and time sensitive approach.
