Fall Camping in the North
By Steve Krinke
With Labor Day behind us, a lot of people hang up their camping gear and call it a season. For me though, fall is actually
the best time to camp. You can stretch out summer a little longer and enjoy the outdoors all the way into late October or even November.

Why Fall Camping Is Worth It
-
-
- Dazzling Foliage: Minnesota’s hardwood forests—maple, oak, birch—
light up in vibrant color from late September through mid-October. - Cooler Temperatures: No more sweating in a tent—just cozy
campfires and flannel layers. - Fewer Bugs: The mosquitoes have finally packed it in.
- Less Crowded: Those busy summer campgrounds turn into peaceful, quiet places to relax.

A few things to keep in mind: bring lots of clothing options because the weather can change fast. If you’re in an RV, check whether the campground still has water hookups available—sometimes they shut them off for the season. And make sure you’ve got plenty of propane. Fall nights cool down quickly, and you’ll probably go through more fuel than you expect.

How It Helps You Recharge
Camping in the fall isn’t just fun—it’s a great reset. Getting outside clears your head and gives you a break from screens and routines. Sitting by a fire or hiking under the fall
leaves makes you slow down in a way that’s hard to do at home. I’ve found that even a weekend away makes me come back to work more rested, focused, and ready to tackle the week.
So pack your gear, find a trail, and let fall camping do its magic—for your spirit and your Monday morning energy.
