Logisolve’s DevCenter—Delivering Web, Mobile, Cloud, and Application Innovation with SME Leadership
by Dave Lillquist
A decade ago, outsourcing was mainly viewed as a way for organizations outside the IT industry to reduce operational costs. Today, with the demand for IT talent growing rapidly, outsourced and offshore software development has become a standard part of most companies’ resource strategies.
Logisolve’s DevCenter offers a flexible, variable technology resource model that helps clients determine the right mix of local, offshore, hybrid, and FTE support. The Center allows organizations to outsource work locally at a significantly lower cost than using full-time, 40-hour-per-week consultants. It provides a hybrid option that delivers many of the benefits of offshore development while maintaining the reliability of local, trusted resources. When needed or preferred, the team can also supplement with offshore talent.
Launched in late 2020, the DevCenter started as a small, dedicated team focused on delivering high-quality development and support solutions for a select group of clients. Since then, it has evolved into a thriving hub of innovation, expanding its talent pool and successfully driving a wide range of projects for an ever-growing client base. Today, the Center stands as a trusted partner for organizations seeking expertise, agility, and results that make an impact.
What is the Logisolve DevCenter?
The DevCenter is a dedicated team that follows structured software development practices and provides development capacity for both Logisolve clients and internal initiatives.
Key facts about the DevCenter:
- The core team consists of FTE members, with the ability to scale up as workload increases. Specific technology SMEs can be added when needed.
- Thanks to Logisolve’s broader consulting talent pool, we can provide the right mix of resources at the right time during a project.
- Work intake and development activities follow a structured process and are managed through DevOps.
- Agile methods are used when appropriate, including daily standups with Development Center teams and client leaders when necessary.
- The team is primarily US-based and led by experienced technologists. Depending on the project, teams may include client FTEs and/or Logisolve’s offshore resources.
- The group focuses on Web, Mobile, and Cloud solutions and can deploy to both Azure and AWS environments.
What type of work does the DevCenter handle?
The Center is structured to take on several types of work:
- Outsourced custom development: This includes building new end-to-end solutions or adding enhancements or modules to existing applications. Logisolve can also provide project managers, scrum masters, business analysts, and QA analysts as needed. Most projects fall into this category or into variable work.
- Variable work / Flex capacity: Ideal for development needs that fluctuate throughout the year or for teams that need additional support across multiple projects. This helps clients stay focused on core priorities while we handle overflow work.
- Long-term support and maintenance: Provided either through monthly contracts or hourly engagements. The Center supports applications built by clients as well as those built by the Development Center.
- Capacity boosts: When a project hits a critical phase, the Center can quickly provide additional development hours. For example, the team recently delivered 750 hours of development effort in four weeks to help a client complete a project.
